About two months ago I was looking on Etsy for a set of wrist cuffs. What strongman doesn't have wrist cuffs, right? Anyway, I stumbled upon Eastern Oregon Leather Co. and seeing as they had quite the selection on Etsy, I jumped on to their website. All I can say is wow! If it's made of leather and looks cool, Shane at Eastern Oregon can make it! I called up and placed an order with Shane. Talk about service! The shop owner takes the time to get on the phone, discuss exactly what i want and then goes to create it. About two weeks later my wrist cuffs arrived. They were beautiful! So nice and well made, that a few weeks after that I ordered a second pair. Only this time I wanted something custom made. I took a pre-existing idea from a cuff he had already made and explained to Shane what modifications I was looking for...again, he actually takes the time to talk to his customers! His response: "Of course I can do that". And he did. Two weeks later I get an email from him saying that the cuffs have shipped...and by the way, there's now a 'Realman Gauntlet' on the site! And as expected, the cuffs are amazing!!!

Not only am I happy that I support a fantastic small business who's craftsmanship, customer service and designs are second to none, I now have a signature gauntlet!

Another Busy Summer!
Submitted on: Mon, 07/22/2013 - 9:55am

This summer has been keeping me quite busy!

Things kicked off as the always do, with the Mermaid Parade and Ball. It's always a fun and exhausting day and night in Coney Island when the Mermaid Parade is going on. I had the opportunity to meet this year's King Neptune, Judah Friedlander who seems just as wacky in real life as the characters he plays.

The family trip to North Carolina for Heavy rebel Weekender started a bit later than usual as I found myself performing as the opening act for the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest. The weather was hot and Stilwell Ave. was crowded but performing one of my strongman feats and then doing a set with the All-Stars made it all worth while.

I just got back from California where I performed with my group the New York Variety All-Stars at Goorin Brothers Hatters in San Franscisco. I'm looking forward to building a nice relationship with the folks at Goorin Brothers...after all, I love a good hat!

While the summer is almost half over, there's still plenty more that I've set out to do including working on some new routines, polishing up some old ones and conquering some new territories on the performance trail!

Till next time, stay cool and stay strong!
